The JKB Collection
A collection of Russian and European painting
Developed by Kristina and Joan Beaufort, the JKB Collection focuses on Russian and European painting from the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It brings together internationally recognised museum artists with respected academic and regional painters.
The collecting philosophy values three things at once: historical significance, artistic quality, and individual visual expression. A work does not enter the collection because it is important; it enters because it is important and it holds the eye.

The international painters who made Paris their subject and their workshop between the wars.
Continuity and transformation
The collection is now expanding into contemporary and digital art, exploring how today's artists engage with technology, networks, digital culture and emerging forms of image-making. The historical holdings and the new direction ask the same question from opposite ends: what carries across, and what is remade.
